Coalização (para Sobreviver) das Práticas e Resistências: Ensaio Crítico da Prática Artística Diante do Declínio das Instituições

In 2020, we faced the Covid-19 pandemic crisis so that it would not be possible to ignore the seriousness of this event, a moment that economically has not yet enabled us to understand whether we are facing a recession period similar to what happened with the crisis of 2008- 2009 or the 1929 Great Depression.
Such a crisis that extends to labor and home economics fields everywhere, ended up revealing the neglect on the part of the democratic and capitalist system with regard to the rights of citizens in precarious living conditions and also the inability of that same system to manage the difficulties of access to health, education and culture.
In this way, we witness the impasses created by different cultural institutions, by not valuing different sectors of these entities, by not clarifying the contractual bond of educational services employees during the pandemic, by declaring late partial payment to technicians and assistants, or simply by remaining in absolute silence on other labor matters.
Therefore, I organized for this edition of Performatus some works elaborated in the last years with the intention of contributing with the Institutional Critique theory and, later, to launch a public and collective proposal to think about the future after the pandemic crisis.

Descolonizando a Cartografia nas Artes Visuais através do Ativismo Ambiental
Colóquio A imaginação do futuro. Saberes, experiências e alternativas, 2018
This article proposes an exploration of the relationship between colonial policies, economics and landscape evolution through cartography as material for artistic practice. This material includes reflections on graphic works that show damage or reproduce a concise, Cartesian and abyssal system when describing political positions in a historical process. To this end, cartographic thinking will be examined through the work “Übersicht” (1998) by Gerhard Richter, which provides an overview of the historical production of knowledge in Europe; the work “America Invertida” (1943) by Joaquin Torres García; and a cartographic study on the environmental tragedy of Mariana, Brazil, in 2015, which includes facing resistance to the production of a social space in the face of the global, unified and political reform scenario of socio-ecological issues that favors industry extractive.

Beyond the Archive

Approaching the structure of the public space that claims to stage political manifestations and having in mind the perception of the object within the theory of production of space created by Henri Lefebvre this article tends to highlight the use of the concept to archive within artistic practices as being a result of the “desconstruction” of the current happening of circumstances we are living. Besides this the article also means to include reflections on different artistic works that show the damaged part in a concise, cartesian and abysall system through describing political positions of a historical process taking in main focus the extractive industry.

Cave Canem: Uma Cartografia da Produção de Espaço entre Representações de Poder e Opressão

Approaching the structure of the public space in which political manifestations take place and under the look of the notions of form and object of Henri Lefebvre’s production of space theory, this thesis intends to highlight the archive, the cartography and the derive in the production of the visual arts as a deconstruction of the current situation by which we are surrounded, from the production of knowledge to progressive and development policies.
These elements are analyzed in specific projects for this research that work within the experimental methodological path that propose an exploration of the relation between colonial policies, economy and landscape evolution.
However, the discourse released here integrates reflections on graphic works that show damage in a concise, Cartesian and abyssal system in describing political positions of a historical process that involve themes such as environmentalism and public space, perceived through perspectives of resistance resistance, insurgency movements and activism.
